Meet the Friends and Neighbors

8:03 PM

After 8 hours of work, me and some officemate are fond of having an after-shift recap over a cup of coffee, tea or a chicken meal just around the area of our office. It was a Friday night if I remembered it correctly, when we gone further out our comfort zone. A short minute drive, we gone to a place that tastes like home... one delicious home cooking!

FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS RESTAURANT
5070 P. Burgos corner Valdez Street
Poblacion, Makati City
Tels. 899-3351, 899-3335, 896-9216

It started out in a nipa hut, right where it now stands, expanding for more room as people patronized it, and improving over the years to a wooden affair, then to a concrete four-storey building (the upper floors let out as a dormitory), and finally to an air-conditioned, spacious affair with an expanded menu.

The house menu consists of well-known and favorite Filipino dishes, served on ordinary days. Nothing fancy, not gourmet, but with the goodness, and comfort, of home-cooking.
It was not by accident how we discovered friends and neighbors, a friend happened to grew up in the city of binay. She grew up having breakfast, lunch and dinner at F and N, at times "merienda" as well. It was all praises from her! So we didn't think twice to try their foodies...
Now, its my fifth time coming to the place to indulge myself to some yummy and tasty home cooking.
They do have this counter, still with a carinderia style with their pre-cooked meals displayed for customers to pick from. For your order, crew will automatically appear beside you when you're ready, hehehe! Most of the  crew are nice and friendly, (take note MOST), but all is good anyway.

Pancit Lomi is thick egg noodles soup with vegetables and enriched with eggs. Lumpiang Sariwa or Fresh Spring Roll is a vegetable dish composed of different vegetables with a soft (unfried) wrapper garnished with sweet sauce and crushed peanuts. Chopsuey is a dish made-up of meat (chicken or pork) cooked with different kinds of vegetables. Lechon Kawali involves boiling then deep-frying pieces of pork which I think is one of their best seller with their spicy Laing. While Laing on the other hand is mixture of spicy pork, taro leaves and coconut milk stew.

Ooopppppssss lemme just clarify things i dunno how to cook all of this are based from the presentation of the food and how it tasted. If you want information of how to cook stuff, you are definitely at the wrong page!

Since  I recently move to Makati, Friends and Neighbors will be like my extended part of my apartment, (LPG for cooking is prohibited in our unit), my dining room. Looking for a heavier version of me by the end of this year... Friends and Neighbors will help me big time for sure! Paaaakkk!
