Last Night with Merlito

4:00 AM

Krumping is not my cup of tea (i have a pair of left feet, remember?!), but cramming is! I prefer mine with milk, (charot!). Cramming is the game I always play, got my degree during my secondary schooling and my masters on my college years. But anyway enough of this long, and senseless introduction... what i really want to share is, how we run to the MRT to malls to another transportation to have our last minute roaming in Singapore. Yes... Cramming still in an out of town trip! Cramming here, there and everywhere!

Although we have a bit of a messy schedule on this trip, because of midday hotel check-in and check-out, it didn't kept us from a bit of sight seeing. For our last day, right after putting in our luggage in, and a quick meet up with the reservation manager and supervisor., we set our sail and headed to our destination.

It's time to experience the Singapore MRT...

Singapore's MRT(Mass Rapid Transit) is the best managed transport systems. It forms the Backbone of the railway system in Singapore spanning across the entire city. Singapore MRT has stations above the ground, underground and on the ground.
There are 3 main lines that it operates on – the North-South, East-West, and North-East lines. A new line, called the Circle line, will operate in 2010. The MRT operates from 6am to 12midnight daily.

The Singapore transport system makes getting around Singapore easy and enjoyable. all you need is to have an ez-link card, which is a contactless tap=and-go smart card, and you can tap your way around Singapore on both MRT's and buses. You can purchase ez link card with prepaid value at taransitlink ticket offices and passenger service centres at MRT stations.

Since this is just for a short trip and we used cab most of the time (we have no choice because of our luggage), we purchased a standard ticket, which is known in Manila as Single Journey Ticket. Ticket kiosk are user-friendly and easy to use as long as you'll stay calm and focus! hahaha!

Coming from the Airport station, although we lost our way for a bit (we got off the wrong station :b), we have to transfer different train or line (as the locals call it... green line, i think?!) afterwards get off Harbourfront. When we reached Harbourfont, we got a refund of 1SGD (that is 33php) at the kiosk or ticket machine before we leave the station. We took the Vivo City exit and roam around for a few minutes before riding the Sentosa Express.

the connecting tunnel going to vivo city
We walked around Vivo City across the few floors or mall area and then to the open foyer which overlooks the entire Sentosa especially, a direct view of the Universal Studios.

The Sentosa Express links HarbourFront, VivoCity and St. James Power Station to Sentosa in less than four minutes.

Operating hours:

First train - 8am
Last train - 10pm
Beach Station:

First train - 8.15am
Last train - 10pm

Ticket: S$3 per person (Adult and Child aged 3 and above)

Another way of getting to Sentosa is through Sentosa Boardwalk from VivoCity Shopping Mall waterfront promenade which ends at the Sentosa Visitor Centre. Entrance fee is $1.
Shuttle bus is free when you are already inside Sentosa which will go around the island and to various attractions.

You will probably spend the whole day at Sentosa because there are about 30 games/shows/attractions including the laser show at about 7 pm. This includes the underwater world and dolphin show, cinemania, the merlion, etc. You may get Sentosa map with event schedule for free at the Sentosa visitors arrival center or when you buy a ticket at the Sentosa Express, VivoCity.

Songs of the Sea. It features a live cast and dramatic pyrotechnic effects, water jets, lasers, computer imaging, music and flame bursts. I haven't seen the full show, just a glimpse when we took the sky ride. Still, i had a close encounter with Oscar, isn't he cute?!

We took the skyride which is an open air cable-driven airlift offering fantastic a panoramic scenery of the city skyline and beautiful skyline.

Skyride
One Way: S$8.50 / Person
Two Way: S$12.50 / Person

From this sky ride, we saw this stunning tower... Singapore tallest observatoy tower is a distinctive landmark, soaring high above the surrounding the natural greenery, it's the Tiger Sky Tower. Unfortunately since it's already late, we haven't experienced the breathtaking view from the tower.

Afterwards we decided to just walk and took some pictures around....

After endless walking... we saw this castle of lights. The child in me decided to come out and have fun. I run to this castle look-alike and climb till I'm on the top of it.Even I'm running out of breath the scenery killed me... felt like a princess after I saw the beautiful view and i decided to act as one. **winks**

and then the Merlion Walk....

After being a princess it's time to face the monster in the castle... it's a half lion, half fish statue known as the lion fish. A relaxing stroll along the merlion walk, a 129 metre-long Gaudi-inspired mosaic walkway, ansaya lang talaga mag-pictorial. :b

the whole gang

Now time to meet the father of Merlito... only blind can miss this huge statue of the merlion. Ooohh and by the way when i said huge it's HHUUUGGGGEE!!

The merlion is half lion, half fish.. I can't tell you much more than that, but it's a well known symbol in Singapore. He has a miniature version which i instantly fall inlove with and you can found him at the esplanade... My Merlito!

Resorts World Sentosa (RWS), Singapore’s first integrated resort is located on the resort island of Sentosa. It's home to the region’s first-and-only Universal Studios theme park, a casino, luxurious accommodation in four unique hotels, the Resorts World Convention Center, celebrity chef restaurants as well as specialty retail outlets. The resort also offers entertainment ranging from its resident theatrical circus spectacular Voyage de la Vie, to public attractions such as the Crane Dance and the Lake of Dreams.

The placid lake of dreams at the heart of festive walk. It dramatically comes alive evry night. It shows a playful illusions of fire-breathing dragons, water cannons and laser special effects. And the best things is - the show's FREE!

I was really looking forward to experience Universal Studios, unfortunately when we are about to inquire on the tickets it was already sold out! yes... sold out! They have maximum number of guest in the said theme park. I should have make reservation prior to our trip since it's their peak season. Lessons learned! Noted!

And now the Candy Land! Wooohhoooo!

If you are a candy lover or chocolate lover, then it's the place to be! Although I'm not an avid fan but I love taking pictures with those sweets! hahaha!

This last day of tour was a bit tiring but with those pictures and experience... it was all worth it! Definitely I'm coming back for the Universal Studios... and My Merlito! ... Soon! :D
